Along the lines of the (fictitious) Good Morning Burger from the Simpsons ("We take eighteen ounces of sizzling ground beef, and soak it in rich, creamery butter, then we top it off with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it the Good Morning Burger.") comes "Baseball's Best Burger":
Minor league team the Gateway Grizzlies will be selling a donut burger that "will include a hamburger topped with sharp cheddar cheese and two slices of bacon -- all between a 'bun' of Krispy Kreme Original Glazed donuts." It sounds gross, the photo looks gross, and I can't imagine people enjoying this "meal and a dessert in one."

sports uniform lettering
When an article combines baseball and typography, it gets my attention. Welcome to Arch Madness on ESPN.com discusses vertically arched lettering on sports uniforms and includes plenty of links to example images:
The lettering for player names on most jerseys is radially arched, which means the letters are fanned out to form a crescent. [B]ut with vertically arched lettering, each individual letter receives its own distinct degree of "uphill" or "downhill" slant, depending on its place within the player's name.

Microsoft designs the iPod package
Microsoft designs the iPod package
I first saw this in YouTube, but it was removed from the site...perhaps by the Microsoft employee who created it? No matter -- when something is this good, once it's released onto the web, it's not going away. "It's funny because it's true."

Spring training
I had a nice surprise when I logged onto My Yahoo today. My normally empty Scoreboard module was actually showing something:

Spring training is officially here!

The ugliness of MySpace
I feel exactly the same as Matt at A Whole Lotta Nothing regarding askew baseball hats and MySpace:
I always secretly hoped I'd never grow old and unhip, but every few months I'm reminded that the world is passing me by.
It all started with the askew hats. Two or three years ago I was walking down the street and saw some guys wearing baseball caps with the bills pointed off at crazy angles, like their hat was making a left turn but their head hadn't caught up. Every time I see a kid with his hat all akimbo I want to grab his arms, smack him in the face, and straighten his hat out. It's irrational, I know, but drives me crazy in a "get the hell off my lawn you crazy kids!" sort of way.
The online equivalent of this is of course, MySpace... Apple has made the iPod the most popular music player on earth, but it's clean as a whistle. How could the same people love their super sleek music player and also love the gaudy oversaturated flashing/pulsating monstrosity of their MySpace profile?

Stephen's Laws of Love on the Colbert Report is the only place to find out about "The Splendiferous Zeppelin Escapades of Filliam H. Muffman."

Picasa: iPhoto for Windows
If you use a Mac and shoot digital photos, you should be using Apple iPhoto to manage them. But my mom -- who, for reasons unknown (despite numerous major problems with Windows over the years) -- has yet to switch to a Mac. Since she asked for help backing up her photos, I needed to find a Windows iPhoto-equivalent...which I assumed didn't exist.
Well, for the most part, it does: Google Picasa is a very cool, simple, and free (!) digital photo management tool for Windows (there's no Mac version). It organizes your photos, has basic editing tools (cropping, red eye removal, lighting & color effects), and makes it easy to email pictures, order prints, and burn CDs. Since it's free and owned by Google, it's definitely worth checking out.

Lil' Crap
Here's a quick but foolproof rule of thumb when determining if a rapper is good or not: If they have "Lil" in their name, they're bad (not to mention unoriginal in selecting a stage name). Proof: Lil' Jon, Lil' Kim, Lil' Flip, Lil' Bow Wow, Lil' Wayne, Lil' Troy, Lil' Mo, Lil' Romeo, Lil' Scrappy...
