A new site I built is now live: Hollister Thomas Photography. The original designer sort of disappeared so I took his initial rough design, finished the details, and built the site. It was a lot of fun to do, especially adding the Lightbox 2.0 slideshow and the page load/fade-in code (which I needed to do because of the way the content is centered on the page). And Hollister's photos are great, too!

Baseball season is almost here, and I came across this video of Conan O'Brien interviewing people who play olde tyme baseball: "1864 rules, 1864 costumes. Some say a waste of time. Others say an incredible waste of time."

What drives me nuts about this whole thing — besides the fact that these have been posted around the city for at least 2 weeks before this whole thing (figuratively) blew up — is that TV and newspaper reports keep referring to these small light-up billboards as "packages" (they're clearly not) and calling the whole thing a "hoax." Jeff summed it up best:

These guerilla ads are not hoaxes. Perhaps they are graffiti. Perhaps they were poorly planned and executed, but there is absolutely nothing "hoax" about them. A hoax is something designed to look like something else. These were battery powered illuminated signs designed to look like battery powered illuminated signs.

Also, I find it hard to believe that there are no college interns -- i.e. somebody who would recognize the Mooninites -- working for the Boston city government or any of the Boston TV stations or newspapers...

Someone in Japan took part of a video I made ("Losers of the Year"), edited out all non-flatland stuff, dubbed some rap over it, and uploaded it to YouTube. While I'm not exactly thrilled that somebody used my video without permission and added their own music to it, what the heck...the video is over 10 years old.

Well, unless you're reading this in an RSS reader it's pretty obvious that I launched this site's new design. Nothing earth-shattering, just a (slight) improvement over the last minimalist/unfinished black & white version. There might be some weirdness while I work out the kinks, but hopefully it's nothing too major.

After over a month of ignoring it (busy with the holidays, etc.) I finally got around to adding a new "mix tape" podcast to Sinko. I actually did a few episodes last night, so I'll update the site regularly in the upcoming weeks.

I added a new photo slideshow thing on the Photos page using JonDesign's Smooth Gallery, combining it with the SimplePie RSS reader to display my most recent Flickr photos.

An entire new site design coming soon ... just have to work through some wacky CSS things.
