Texting Acronyms for the Elderly
Again, normally I'm not a fan of McSweeney's, but there is the occasional gem. Like New Texting Acronyms for the Elderly. I love the new meaning for OMGWTF, but the sad thing is I could probably actually use BIMD...

David Sedaris on Undecided Voters
Undecided
To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?"(via Daring Fireball)
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.
Sox Are Done, and I Feel Fine
Surviving Grady pretty much sums up my feelings about the Sox:
Wanna know the strangest thing about today?
It's not that the goddam Tampa Bay Devil Rays are about to play in the World Series, giving their legion of faux fans at least a few more hours to learn all the players' names before first pitch.
It's that just little more than 48 hours ago, the Boston Red Sox lost game seven of the ALCS, and I feel perfectly fine.

End of the Sox
Good for the Rays (except for the crappy theme song). Obviously I would've wanted the Sox to win, but what can you do? (I mean, besides pinch hit for Varitek...WTF?) TB just played better tonight. That said...go Phillies!
A friend of mine noted that while the Red Sox won the world series in 2004, the presidential election didn't work out as well. Maybe this year we'll "win" the election instead...

Bart's Prank Call to Sweden
I loved the Scandinavian reaction (both the bartender and the patrons) to Bart Simpson's prank phone call...

Sox Win ALDS!
Amazing game last night, and it was very cool to have been there for it. I obviously didn't watch the game on TV, but it's amusing to read the differing opinions on the announcers' alleged bias:
"...I could bitch about the absurdly pro-Boston telecast..." -- Halos Heavens
"Then I watched the game and saw the ridiculous anti-Boston bias among the announcers..." -- Surviving Grady
So I'm guessing it evens out and was an unbiased telecast?

Freestylin' Retrospective Book
Growing up riding BMX, Freestylin' magazine was the shit -- very cool, informative, great photos. Every month we couldn't wait to get the new issue in the mail. I just found out that a very limited edition Freestylin' Retrospective Book was recently published and from the sounds of it, it's nearly impossible for us old-school riders to get our hands on a copy. But thanks to the interweb, at least we can see it online. It was also pretty cool to see one of my `zines in the book (page 123).

Like rain on your wedding day*
Jeff:
* Not ironic
Do evangelical Christians realize the staggering irony of dismissing Obama's message of "hope" as meaningless and ineffective?

Mighty Snake
Amelia drew a picture and told the story of Mighty Snake. I took her drawing and recorded story, then put it all together in iMovie. You can see the result here...
